Potomac Dive Club’s head coach is Angie Baker.
Coach Baker grew up in Kentucky where she started as a competitive gymnast. At age 9 she began competing with her summer league swim and dive team and fell in love with the sport. She competed at the KHSAA State Swim and Dive Meet all four years of High School and competed in the Kentucky State Bluegrass Games.
Coach Baker was a summer league diving coach in her hometown of Owensboro.
Coach Baker took a break from swimming and diving and returned to the sport in 2004 as a dive instructor at Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center and returned to the competitive side of the sport in 2007 with Alexandria Dive Club as a Masters Diver. In 2008, she won bronze at the USA Masters Diving Spring Nationals and in 2009 won silver at the USA Masters Diving Summer Nationals.
In addition to her extensive diving experience, Coach Baker previously served as the General Manager and Special Abilities Director for SwimKids Swim School, where she spent several years as a Trainer. A recognized leader in adaptive aquatics, she served on the United States Swim School Association (USSSA) Special Abilities Committee for 12 years. During her tenure, the committee was honored with the 2016 Guiding Light Award for its global leadership in training instructors to work effectively with individuals with special needs. Building on this legacy, Coach Baker is a Co-Founder of the SPA (Special Abilities Pedagogy for Aquatics) Conference, a dedicated initiative making aquatics accessible to all. She continues to shape the future of the industry as a current member of the USSSA Government Affairs and Industry Standards Committee.
Her deep commitment to the community includes a decade as the volunteer Head Coach for the East Prince William County Special Olympics Swim Team. In 2018, she served as the Assistant Head Coach for Team Virginia at the Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle and coached a nationally qualified high-performance athlete to the 2019 World Games in Abu Dhabi.
In the diving world, Coach Baker joined the Prince William County High School dive team as an Assistant Coach in 2016 before being promoted to Head Coach in 2018. In 2022, she founded Potomac Dive Club to serve youth athletes in Prince William and Stafford Counties. Expanding her impact to the collegiate level, she also in 2025 joined the newly established University of Mary Washington Dive Team as a Contract Coach, helping to build the program’s foundation.
